NDSS upsets Barsby to win BC football championship

VANCOUVER — The NDSS Islanders are BC High School Football champions thanks to an upset win over their crosstown rivals.

The Islanders beat John Barsby 23-0 this afternoon in the Junior Varsity Double A Subway Bowl at BC Place.

The win marks the first high school football title for NDSS since their varsity team won a Tier 2 championship in 2011.

They came into the game as underdogs against the Bulldogs, having finished the season at 4-2, second place behind the 6-0 ‘Dogs. Barsby also beat NDSS in both regular season meetings this season.
