BC Housing advances revised Nanaimo housing proposal
NANAIMO — While a multi-faceted nearly 400 rental unit community is still hoped for, a reduced housing proposal would still fill significant needs.
BC Housing recently submitted a revised vision for one of three neighbouring properties along Fifth St. just west of University Village where the former Sanala low-income housing complex stood.
A pair of five-storey, 201 rental units are envisioned for 564 Fifth St., including 34 affordable housing units where the Sanala complex stood (formally King Arthur Court).
Jeremy Holm, the City of Nanaimo’s director of community planning, said the proposal is currently under a technical review.
