Mounties rule out Alberta in Amber Alert search, multiple sightings of boy in B.C.

GRANDE PRAIRIE — Mounties have ruled out parts of Alberta in their search for a missing young boy, but an Amber Alert for the child remains in effect in British Columbia

RCMP say there have been multiple sightings in B.C. of six-year-old Lanakai Morrison, who remains the subject of an Amber Alert in that province.

Police issued the initial alert in Alberta late Wednesday, but on Friday afternoon said it is no longer in effect there.

They say Lanakai was taken Tuesday from the hamlet of Valhalla Centre, roughly 63 kilometres northwest of Grande Prairie, Alta., near the B.C. boundary.

Mounties say the boy was spotted Wednesday morning in Fort St. John, B.C., and the search has been expanded to all of B.C. and into much of the Northwest Territories and the Yukon.

Lanakai is described as white and having a slight build, light brown hair and brown eyes.

Police say they still believe the boy is with his mother, 35-year-old Krista Morrison, her partner, 35-year-old Daniel Ludwig, and another child, four-year-old Karl Morrison.

Police were initially looking for a black 2015 Toyota Tundra, but it was found by officers.

RCMP say it’s believed the couple changed vehicles and are driving a 2006 red Ford F350, with Alberta licence plate CXW8820.

They say people with information should call 911 and not approach the vehicle or suspects.
