Water alert lifted for Vancouver Island community after main repaired

Jun 26, 2026 | 9:13 AM

PORT RENFREW — Residents of the Vancouver Island community of Port Renfrew can resume regular water use after repairs to its water main were completed.

The Capital Regional District had issued a water conservation alert on Thursday for the community about 100 kilometres west of Victoria as it was relying only on reservoir water, which was already very low.

A leak was discovered in the water main and it needed to be shut down while crews worked on repairs.

At the time, the district said reservoir levels were dropping, with the possibility of reaching a critical low by Friday if conservation measures weren’t taken.
