Federal funds help IGV Housing

IGV Housing is rapidly expanding thanks to a partnership with the Synergy Foundation, North Island College, WorkBC, and significant federal funding.

Through the Green Building Foundations & Manufacturing program, unemployed forestry workers, youth and First Nations receive specialized trades training, which makes them ready for immediate employment with local industries.

Jodie Thompson, Chief of Staff at IGV Housing says they’ve hired most of the graduates already and expect to hire more.

“They then came as a team because they spent five weeks together and bonded, so they came as this fantastic group that were already working really well together,” she said. “What we’re doing now is giving them the job training for the specific machinery and the stations that we have here at IGV.”
