One RCMP detachment in Metro Vancouver splits into two, serving separate communities
MAPLE RIDGE — A Metro Vancouver RCMP detachment has officially split following a multi-year process to separate.
Both police and the City of Maple Ridge say the former Ridge Meadows detachment, serving both Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, is now two autonomous detachments.
The Mounties say the de-integration comes after the British Columbia government approved the separation in 2021 and the transition process began.
The new Maple Ridge RCMP will retain the detachment’s office and contact information, while the Pitt Meadows RCMP moves into a new location with interim front-counter services available at the local community policing office.
