A Port Alberni man has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal shooting at a local trailer park Friday night.

According to RCMP, officers were called to Jaylee Mobile Park off upper Johnston Road, shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday to a report that a man had been shot at a residence in the park.

When officers arrived, they found three adult men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

First responders attempted life-saving measures on one man who died at the scene.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation with support from Port Alberni RCMP.

Police say 81-year-old Herbert Crowley of Port Alberni has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the incident.

Investigators say the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident involving people known to each other.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Crowley remains in custody and is expected to make his first court appearance in Port Alberni this week.
