Unlicensed, uninsured Nanaimo driver barrels down embankment, crashes into yard
NANAIMO — It appears a series of poor decisions led to a preventable and damaging single-vehicle crash in the city’s north end.
It happened on Wednesday, March 4 at about 9:15 p.m. as the driver of a Ford Mustang was proceeding north on Hammond Bay Rd. up a hill past Fillinger Cres.
Nanaimo RCMP Reserve Cst. Gary O’Brien said the driver lost control, went over a sidewalk, down an embankment, and smashed through the backyard fence of a Leslie Cres. property.
The driver was treated on scene for minor injuries, while his female passenger took off.
