Clippers send three players to BCHL All-Star weekend in Alberta

Dec 18, 2025 | 9:39 AM

NANAIMO — A trio of Clippers have been selected to the BCHL All-Star weekend January in Spruce Grove, Alberta.

Captain Nathan Larioza and leading scorer Hayden Fechner will play in the Canada versus the World All-Star game, while Fechner and forward Charles Beland will participate in the College Prospects Game.

Larioza is looking to suiting up for the World Team on Jan. 17.

“I am super honored to be chosen for this year’s All-Star game. It means a lot to have been selected by the committee and I’m proud to be representing the Clippers.”

Fechner is doing double duty, playing on both Jan 16 and 17 and it’s in many ways a homecoming for the 20-year-old.

“I’m from Edmonton so Spruce Grove is not too far from home for my friends and family, hopefully they can come watch me play for the first time this year. I think the format is pretty cool as well Canada vs the World should be an interesting game. Also playing against Larry is going to be lots of fun it’s been great playing with him but playing against him should be a lot of fun for a game.”

Nanaimo assistant coach Evan Richardson said the accolades are deserved for Fechner, Larioza and Beland.

“It’s awesome. It’s great for them. It makes sense for all three guys to go based on the way they’ve played. The players are happy for them, the coaches are really happy for them. It’s been a good year for them all and we’re excited to see them go there.”

Beland’s family won’t be making the trip but Larioza and Fechner will have their families going to the event.

Larioza will have his billet mom heading to All-Star weekend as well and Fechner is hoping for a large cheering section.

“I think my parents and a couple siblings should make it to the game. I know my billet mom already booked flights to come watch so she will be there. A couple of my friends might come if they’re not busy, I’m really looking forward to playing in front of all of them.”

Clippers highlights from games Dec. 12 versus Surrey and Dec. 16 at Cowichan Valley.

With the BCHL Christmas break looming, the Clippers will only play five games before the All-Star weekend.

Nanaimo is home to Alberni Valley on Friday, Dec. 19 and visit Victoria to wrap up their 2025 schedule on Saturday, Dec. 20.

The Clippers play Jan. 3 in Cranbrook then Jan. 9 and 10 at home to Powell River and Victoria.
