Alberni filmmaker wins award

A Port Alberni filmmaker has won a prestigious award for a car-racing series he’s produced for the past 13 years.

Warwick Patterson, and his production company Formula Photographic based in Port Alberni, have earned international recognition for their work on Subaru Launch Control, a long-running motorsports documentary series produced for Subaru Motorsports.

Patterson and his team recently returned from Los Angeles where they were awarded the RACER Creator Award for excellence in storytelling and production in motorsport media.

With more than 160 episodes Patterson said it’s great to see work produced from right here in Port Alberni reach audiences around the world.

Alongside managing his production company, Patterson is also owner of the Vancouver Island Soaring Centre.
