Clippers add veteran forward in trade with Chilliwack

Dec 4, 2025 | 3:35 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers have bolstered their lineup with the addition of former Chilliwack Chief Jordan Geike.

To acquire the 19-year-old winger the Clippers gave up the rights to goaltender Kyan Labbe who played in Nanaimo briefly in the 2024-25 campaign.

Geike is looking forward to this next chapter in his junior hockey career.

“There’s excitement with a new team and the new boys. On my first day they really accepted me and I’m looking forward to my first weekend.”

In parts of three seasons with the Chiefs Geike had 14 goals and 25 assists in 76 games.

He also brings considerable playoff experience going to the Fred Page Cup Finals in the spring of 2025.

“I loved Chilliwack. My billet family was awesome and Brian Maloney was a great coach. I’ve always been on a very close team there and we’ve always made good runs.”

Geike isn’t concerned about his specific role yet but he explained he can play a strong forechecking game and contribute on special teams.

He feels like has a good read on his in his new team after playing the Clippers so many times over the years with Chilliwack.

“Nanaimo’s always been a good team to play against. They’ve always been a hard team and one of the top teams battling with Chilliwack every year. It’s always been a good organization and any time I would come out here I always see a lot of fans. I’m excited to see some of those fans and meet them.”

Clippers highlights from games Nov. 28 versus the Bulldogs and Nov. 29 against Langley.

Geike’s first action will be a home and home series against the Coastal West Division leading Cowichan Valley Capitals.

The Clippers trail the Capitals by seven points in the standings but Nanaimo has a 3-0-1 in four head to head meetings.

Playing a top team right off the bat is a good way to start according to Geike.

“Even though I just got here I’m excited to go up against the best team in our conference. I think it would be a big step for our team if we could get those four points.”

Nanaimo hosts Cowichan on Friday, Dec. 5 before travelling down to Duncan to play the Capitals the following night.
