NANAIMO — The Clippers had a good start to their game against Chilliwack, but were done in by a strong Chiefs second period that proved to be decisive.

After Nanaimo’s Patrick Fortune and the Chiefs Adam Boatter traded first period markers, Chilliwack added four second period goals and went on to win 5-2.

Ryan Small scored on a tap in just a minute and five seconds into the middle frame and even though Nathan Larioza tied things up with his third goal in four games the Chiefs ended the period on a three goal run.

Boatter with his second of the game, Adam Kral and Jack Plandowski on a last minute man advantage gave the Chiefs a comfortable lead.

Although Nanaimo outshot Chilliwack 12-6 in the final period neither team could score.

The Clippers outshot the Chiefs 33-29 while going 0/3 on the power play and 3/4 killing penalties.

Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau took the loss in net to Chilliwack’s Ben Laurette.

The Clippers run of six straight games with a point came to an end and at 10-6-2 they are alone in second place in the Coastal West division.

Nanaimo has a rare home game on Nov. 19 against the Prince George Spruce Kings and then return to the road to play in Coquitlam and Surrey on Nov. 21 and 22.
