POWELL RIVER — The Clippers got out to a big lead for the second night in a row but had to hang on for a tight 4-3 victory over the Kings.

All four Nanaimo goal scorers scored on back to back nights with Elliot Perreault and Patrick Fortune scoring in the first period, Tanner Bruender putting away a second period power play goal and Jack Rimmer getting the eventual game winner early in the final period.

After building up the 4-0 lead Powell River chipped away on a cross crease tally by Eliot Compton, a controversial deflection goal from Dante Ersoni and a five on three marker off the stick of Brendan Giles.

The Clippers outshot the Kings 33-25 while going 1/3 on the man advantage and 3/4 killing penalties.

Dryden Riley earned his second win of the season with Powell River’s David Skacel taking the loss.

Nanaimo’s season high stretch of six consecutive road games ended in a 3-3 record.

Now the Clippers return home to face the Victoria Grizzlies on Halloween night.

Nanaimo is one point behind Victoria for second place in the Coastal West Division.
