Motorcycle rider severely injured in Cedar crash, traffic impacted

NANAIMO — A single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle is expected to delay traffic in both directions in Cedar, just off Hwy. 1.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Cedar Rd. and Fielding Rd. around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, in response to what Nanaimo RCMP describe as a “very traumatic injury”.

The north entrance to Cedar Rd. was closed from the turn off Hwy 1 in both directions, disrupting traffic flow in the area in the afternoon.

A statement from BC Emergency Health Services noted several of its resources were dispatched to the scene, including advanced care paramedics.

“The patient was transported by ground ambulance and then by air ambulance to hospital in serious condition,” stated paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites.
