UPDATE: Missing 80-year-old Nanaimo woman found

UPDATE — Nanaimo RCMP advise Christine Craigie has been located safe and sound.

EARLIER, NANAIMO — Local Mounties are actively on the lookout for a missing 80-year-old woman.

Christine Craigie has not returned to her home in central Nanaimo after leaving at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, with family concerned for her safety and well-being given the time she’s spent away from her house.

RCMP note Cragie is considered very fit and active, is known for going on daily walks, and left home with her brown poodle dog which wears a red collar.

Currently, officers are searching different areas of central Nanaimo and have consulted with Nanaimo Search and Rescue.

As of 3 p.m., SAR volunteers were not being deployed.

Craigie is described as 5’3″, with a medium build and blonde hair. She has a Swiss accent and is believed to be wearing either a red or blue jacket.

Those with information on Craigie’s whereabouts are asked to contact 911, or the Nanaimo RCMP detachment at 250-754-2345.
