Clippers earn point in OT road loss to Bulldogs

Oct 4, 2025 | 11:30 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers gained a point in a hard fought 2-1 overtime loss in Alberni Valley.

It was the goalies who took centre stage with Dryden Riley stopping 34 of 36 shots in his first start with Nanaimo and Ryder Shea making 37 saves for the Bulldogs.

Riley was at his best with stellar saves at the end of the second period and several big stops in overtime, including on an Alberni Valley power play.

Charles Beland scored the Clippers only goal in the first period while Wyatt Davis countered in the middle frame for the Bulldogs.

Jacob Terpstra, who finished with a goal and an assist, notched the overtime winner after a turnover at the Nanaimo blueline.

The Clippers went 0/5 on the man advantage and 3/3 killing penalties.

Nanaimo failed to cash in on four third period power plays but had a massive kill with a late Bulldog power play that carried into OT.

Alberni Valley and Nanaimo have played head to head three times in the first five games of the season with the Clippers sporting a 1-1-1 record.

They will meet again in Port Alberni on Nov. 28.

Next up the Clippers have a home game against Cowichan Valley on Oct. 8 at noon.

It’s an event targeting school age fans with at least eight local elementary schools slated to attend.
