Last year, over $15,000 was raised at the Nanaimo and District SPCA, and you can donate locally here by searching ‘Nanaimo’.

Wilson said animals often arrive at their branches with complex health issues which need to be addressed in order to get them healthy, happy, and ready for their forever homes.

She said they see more and more cases coming in every year across the province, and community support is always a critical part of their operation.

“There’s more animals who need behavioural support or long stays, or extensive medical care. Having the support of the community to raise funds so that we can make sure that every animal gets the care that they need and deserve is something that we’re really grateful for.”

You can donate to the Nanaimo and District SPCA here, or any other SPCA across B.C. by visiting lockin.spca.bc.ca.

The Nanaimo branch will be open from noon until 4:00 p.m. on June 14 for their in-person Lock-in for Love event.
