Qualicum Beach fireworks show kicks off annual Family Day celebration

QUALICUM BEACH — Dozens of events and activities are planned for the 47th annual Family Day festivities.

The popular Quality Foods Festival of Lights fireworks display takes place on Qualicum Beach’s primary waterfront on Saturday, May 24, with a scheduled start time of 9:30 p.m.

A simulcast of the Festival of Lights display will be broadcast on 88.5 The Beach.

With thousands of people expected to be on hand, parking will be limited and congested vehicular movement is anticipated.

Family Day celebrations take place on Sunday, May 25 throughout the day, with many activities taking place at the Community Playing Fields next to the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.

A pancake breakfast and live entertainment takes place between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.

The annual Family Day parade happens at noon starting on Primrose St.

Various entertainment, kids’ games, community vendors and several food trucks will be on hand.
