BC IIO investigating attempted traffic stop in Nanaimo
NANAIMO — The province’s civilian-led police oversight agency is calling for more witnesses or dash-cam footage of an attempted late-night traffic stop and subsequent crash.
RCMP officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a motorcycle in Nanaimo’s downtown area around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, according to a statement from the Independent Investigations Office of B.C.
Police report the motorcycle did not stop for officers and eventually crashed into a taxi near the Victoria Rd. and Milton St. intersection.
Both the rider and passenger on the motorcycle were injured in the crash.
