Tamara Kronis: Canada First, For a Change Means Making Your Life More Affordable

Over the past four years, I’ve spoken with so many of you on your doorsteps and at events across our community. I hear the same concerns over and over again—you are struggling with the cost of groceries, worried about housing costs, and now, the serious threats from the United States.

You want real solutions to these problems, not the same Party repackaged with a different Leader.

When Justin Trudeau came to power, Canada had the wealthiest middle class in the world. Yet, with the help of the NDP, they have doubled the price of housing, rent, and mortgages. Food bank use continues to break records. The NDP and Liberals blocked Canadian energy in favour of dirty dictator oil, raised taxes every single year, and drove an astonishing half-trillion dollars of investment out of Canada to the U.S., including Mark Carney’s own company

They put us in a position of weakness and left us completely unprepared for the threats we now face from Donald Trump and the United States.

We have no economic room left to respond to global economic downturns, escalating housing prices, and uncertainty in the job market.

Our NDP Member of Parliament supported the Liberals every step of the way. She voted with Justin Trudeau 648 times — an astonishing 91% of the time. She supported the policies that got us here, and she has no plan to get us out.

Pierre Poilievre and our Conservative team are the only ones with a real plan to put Canada First.

Pierre’s story is a testament to what Canada can offer. As the child of a teenage mother adopted by two schoolteachers, Pierre understands the promise of Canada. His wife, Ana, came to Canada seeking a better life, and she found it here.

My own dad grew up poor but was ultimately able to save enough to pay off the cost of a modest family home. These stories hearken back to a time when anyone, from anywhere, could become anything in Canada. Not so for our children and grandchildren today, which is why we need change.

This is the Canadian promise we want to restore, and Pierre and I have a Canada First Plan to get the job done. Conservatives will:

  • Cut income tax by 15%, dropping the tax rate on the lowest income tax bracket from 15% to 12.75%, saving the average Canadian worker $900 and two-income families $1,800 a year.
  • End Liberal-NDP soft-on-crime policies and crackdown on fentanyl traffickers with mandatory life sentences by treating them as mass murderers for the devastation they cause while investing in treatment and recovery programs to bring our loved ones home drug-free.
  • Bring home our resource jobs–repealing the Liberal No-Pipelines Law C-69, lifting the Liberal cap on energy that Carney said he will keep, and quickly approving LNG plants, pipelines, mines, and major projects.
  • Remove GST on new homes under $1 million, saving $40,000 or $2,200/year in mortgage payments on a $800,000 house and bringing more jobs for our trades workers.
  • Reinstate apprenticeship grants of up to $4,000 that were cancelled by the Carney-Trudeau Liberals and fund training halls that will upskill 350,000 young workers by expanding the Union Training and Innovation Program (UTIP).
  • Rebuild our military for a change with new ice-breakers, a new arctic base, more troops, and better support for our veterans.
  • Retaliate with dollar-for-dollar tariffs against America’s unjustified tariff threats, with 100% of the proceeds going to reimbursing businesses and workers that are directly impacted. The rest will go to tax cuts for Canadians. Not one penny will go to other government spending.
  • Unleash trade and talent by working with premiers to cut red tape, increasing interprovincial trade and allowing doctors from other provinces to set up practice here on Vancouver Island.
  • Secure our border by adding 2,000 new border agents, build border surveillance towers and deploy truck-mounted drone systems that can spot border incursions while tracking
  • Expand opportunities for youth with enhanced Youth Cadets programs and exchanges to bring together youth from across the country.

Canadians cannot afford another lost Liberal decade. A new Common sense Conservative government will put Canada First—for a change.

And we have to stop sending NDP politicians to Ottawa who sell us out to their political bosses and get us nothing in return.

Can you really afford more of the status quo?

It’s time for change.

I’m running to be our voice in Canada’s Parliament to make your life more affordable, make our community safer, and keep Canada strong, independent, self-reliant and free.

Together, let’s put Canada First for a change.

Let’s reclaim the promise of this great country and ensure that you and your family have the opportunity to grow and thrive.
