The Clippers clinched a BCHL playoff spot with a win over the Capitals

NANAIMO — The Clippers will play in the BCHL post season after punching their ticket with a 4-2 win over Cowichan Valley.

Nanaimo sits in sixth place in the standings with four games remaining in the season, three points behind a trio of teams tied for third place in Cowichan Valley, Victoria and Coquitlam.

The Clippers have won four consecutive hockey games and are 9-0-1 in their last ten home contests.

Mitchell Patrick and Chazz Nixon headlined the win over the Capitals.

Patrick scored his first BCHL which ended up as the game winner and Nixon made 37 saves.

Patrick Fortune, Justin Collins and Luke Lavery (power play) also scored for Nanaimo in the victory.

Cowichan Valley outshot Nanaimo 39-29 with the Clippers going 1/3 on the man advantage and they killed off their only time shorthanded.

The last four games include road outings in Surrey and Coquitlam on Mar. 21 and 22.

The regular season concludes with a trip to Cowichan on Mar. 28 and a home tilt versus Surrey on Mar. 29.
