Clutesi Marina project begins

After decades of discussions, the city and local First Nations say they have developed a shared vision for the Clutesi Haven Marina lands.
The property is owned by the City of Port Alberni but leased to the Port Alberni Port Authority, and holds significant historical meaning to Tseshaht and Hupacasath peoples as well.
According to a news release sent out late yesterday, the city has secured more than $400,000 for a vendor village using retrofitted seacans, along with a gazebo, small stage and courtyard along the riverfront.
Work will begin this coming week, with the seacans due in late March, and in full operation by summer.
