Feb 11, 2025 | 1:03 AM

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will attend meetings at the global AI summit in Paris today.

The second day of the summit will feature heads of state and government discussing ways to approach the rapidly advancing technology.

The two-day AI Action Summit is looking at questions about AI and the public interest, the future of work, innovation and culture, public trust in AI and global governance.

On Monday, addressing a session at the summit, Trudeau said the world needs regulation to ensure the benefits of artificial intelligence aren’t enjoyed only by extremely wealthy “oligarchs.”

He also said the need for more electricity to power artificial intelligence will be a key topic of discussion at the G7 this year, as Canada assumes the presidency of the multinational body.

On Monday evening, Trudeau attended a dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron for foreign dignitaries, including U.S. Vice-President JD Vance.
