Canada’s Schwinghammer claims World Cup moguls bronze, Kingsbury well off the podium
DEER VALLEY RESORT — Canadian freestyle skier Maia Schwinghammer claimed World Cup moguls bronze, while men’s star Mikael Kingsbury was held off the podium Thursday in Utah.
Saskatoon’s Schwinghammer, who won her first career World Cup last week in Val St. Come, Que., was third behind winner Jaelin Kauf of the U.S. and runner-up Perrine Laffont of France.
Schwinghammer also ranks third in the women’s overall World Cup moguls standings behind reigning world champion Laffont in first and Kauf in second.
Men’s overall leader Kingsbury of Deux-Montagnes, Que., didn’t make the six-man final. He lost his balance on a mogul before the final jump on his second run and was unable to execute the jump.
