Clippers depth players shine in 6-1 win over Prince George

NANAIMO — The Clippers top offensive players were shut down but they got scoring throughout their lineup in a 6-1 win over Prince George.

Justin Collins opened the scoring with his first goal as a Clipper and Chase Hull and Connor DeTurris on the power play put Nanaimo up 3-0 after the first period.

Nicholas Papineau scored the only Spruce Kings tally midway through the second period.

The Clippers were dominant again in the third with markers by Carson Lesiuk, Makaio Van Tassel and Collis with his second of the night.

Vladimir Nikitin won his second straight game for Nanaimo and stopped 22 of 23 shots.

The Clippers fired 29 shots at the goaltending tandem of Ben Polhill and Ryder Green.

Nanaimo’s top two scorers Dylan Kinch and Cole Lonsdale were held pointless for the first time in seven games but in all ten different players hit the scoresheet.

Both teams had four power plays with DeTurris getting the only man advantage goal.

The Clippers have now won four of their last five games heading into a home game on Alumni Night against the Victoria Grizzlies on Jan. 31.

They also visit Alberni Valley on Feb. 1.
