General election day for the Ladysmith mayoral by-election is on Saturday, March 1 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Frank Jameson Community Centre at 810 6 Ave., according to the Town of Ladysmith.

Advance voting opportunities are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 19 and Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Ladysmith City Hall at 410 Esplanade Ave. from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Ladysmith’s by-election is in response to former longtime mayor Aaron Stone stepping down in September to pursue a career opportunity in Victoria.

Nomination packages to run for the vacant Ladysmith mayoral position were made available on Dec. 16 and had to be returned to City Hall between Jan. 14 and Jan. 24.

Coun. Tricia McKay has been serving the community as interim Ladysmith mayor.

The next municipal election to form local governments province-wide is on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.
