Ryan Reynolds ‘honoured’ and ‘a bit more officery’ after Order of Canada naming
VANCOUVER — “Deadpool” actor Ryan Reynolds thanked the country after he was named as an officer of the Order of Canada, saying the nation shaped and continues to inspire him.
In a short statement, the B.C. native and movie superstar told Canada he was “yours forever — just a bit more officery now” and “deeply honoured” to the core of his soul.
Reynolds was one of 88 people to be appointed to the Order of Canada this week alongside scientists, advocates and artists, all deemed to have made extraordinary contributions to the nation.
Gov.-Gen. Mary Simon’s office praised him for his philanthropy, including with Water First Education, Covenant House Vancouver and the Sick Kids Foundation.
