A man is in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times on Saturday.

Police responded to the stabbing inside a building in the 3000 block of 4th Avenue, and quickly transported the victim to hospital.

According to a media release, RCMP members arrived on scene to find an adult male with multiple stab wounds.

BC Ambulance Service (BCEHS) were busy on other calls and unable to immediately attend.

A Police officer carried the victim out of the two-storey building and rode in the backseat while attempting to keep pressure on the victim’s wounds.

The male was stabilized at hospital before being transported out of the community for additional medical treatment. He remains in critical condition. RCMP located and arrested the suspect for Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

Additional police resources were called in to assist with the investigation resulting in the execution of a Search Warrant. The suspect was held in police custody to await a bail hearing on Sunday December 15, 2024.

“Our members made critical decisions and acted swiftly to get the victim the life saving medical attention he needed,” said Insp. Kim Bruce.

The victim and suspect are known to one another.

Police executed a seach warrant and the investigation is ongoing.
