Hjelholt jailed

A 30-year old Port Alberni man will serve 3 month in jail then 3 months under house arrest after being found guilty of violence against women.

Kasimir Hjelholt hit his girlfriend in February 2023, then a few months later had relations with a different woman, taking naked pictures of her and sharing them against her wishes.

The court heard he was a moderate to high risk to reoffend, and any remorse was superficial.

Judge Karen Whonnock imposed a 3-year probation period, the longest amount of time possible in order to protect his victims she said.

Hjelholt has to undergo counselling, can’t own a device capable of taking pictures for the next 3 years, and has to inform any future partners about his conviction.
