Remembrance Day 2024: Events honouring the fallen across the mid-Island

Nov 11, 2024 | 5:52 AM

NANAIMO — It’s the day Canadians pause and reflect on sacrifices made by those who came before us so we can be free, and mid-Island communities offer plenty of opportunities to pay tribute to the fallen.

The City of Nanaimo will be holding their annual Remembrance Day service in downtown’s Dallas Square Cenotaph at 85 Church St., with the formal ceremonies starting around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 11.

The event will be live streamed by NanaimoNewsNOW and available on our website.

Members from the Royal Canadian Air Cadets 205 Collishaw Squadron, along with other cadet groups, have been standing guard at the Nanaimo Cenotaph since Sunday morning for their annual around-the-block vigil, which they’ll complete prior to the official ceremony.

Road closures impacting portions of Commercial, Skinner, Chapel, Bastion, Church and Front streets will be in effect.
