COLWOOD — After scoring the first goal the Clippers surrendered four straight and lost 5-2 to the Victoria Grizzlies.

Garin Ludwig’s point shot put Nanaimo in front but the game swung in the first period on a five minute major penalty assessed to Jimmy Lyver.

The Clipper winger was also given a game misconduct.

Victoria scored twice on that penalty with goals by Chase Pirtle and Ryan Watt and then never looked back.

Watt added another goal in the second period and Tobia Pitka extended the lead to 4-1 in the third.

Dylan Kinch got Nanaimo closer but Pirtle’s second of the game sealed the win for Victoria.

Clippers goalie Otto Nuto had his first start with the team and made 41 saves.

The Clippers were outshot 46-38 while going 0/3 on the man advantage and 4/6 on the penalty kill.

Nuto was especially busy in the first period when the Grizzlies were credited with 26 shots.

Victoria has won both games so far in the season series with former Clippers goalie Tyler Hodges earning both of those victories.

Nanaimo’s next action is a home and home series with the Powell River Kings Nov. 15 at Frank Crane Arena and Nov. 17 in Powell River.
