Clippers beat Rivermen 2-1 in overtime

NANAIMO — The Clippers had several heroes in a 2-1 overtime win over the Langley Rivermen.

Most notably Cole Lonsdale who scored the game winner 19 seconds into overtime.

Defenceman Andrew Brown was also crucial with a goal and an assist, and netminder Chazz Nixon was stellar with a 33 save effort.

After going down 1-0 on a Ryan Schelling goal in the first period the Clippers had an excellent defensive outing.

The Clippers outshot the Rivermen 41-34 with Nixon’s counterpart Charlie Tritt putting on a strong goaltending performance as well.

Nanaimo finished 0/3 on the man advantage and 2/2 killing penalties.

The game featured a few firsts for the Clippers.

Nanaimo won their first game in overtime, they won back to back home games for the first time this season, Zakary Savoie had his first BCHL point, and the Clippers reached the 40 shot plateau for the first time all season.

The Clippers are 2-1-1 in their last four outings as they head to the Q Centre Nov. 9 for the first time since losing in the decisive Game 5 of last season’s playoffs.
