Clippers fall 4-1 in Langley

Oct 1, 2024 | 11:11 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers put up plenty of shots but had a hard time piercing through Langley’s armour in a 4-1 loss to the Rivermen.

Each team had a power play goal in the first period with Luke Pfoh converting on a bounce off the glass and Nanaimo’s Dylan Kinch setting up Connor Haynes for a goal mouth tap in just before the intermission.

Langley pulled ahead with markers by Aydn Merrick and Ethan Merner in the middle frame and then continued to stymie the Clippers for the rest of the night.

With Nanaimo pressing late in the game Austin Borggaard finished off the scoring on a breakaway.

The shots finished 37-25 for the Clippers with Chazz Nixon taking the loss against first star goalie Charlie Tritt.

Nanaimo went 1/7 on the man advantage while killing off three of four power plays against.

The Clippers record fell to 1-2-1 heading into another divisional road game Oct. 2 in Surrey.

For the returning players from last season, they’ll carry a chip on their shoulder into that game after going 0-5 against the 2024 BCHL champions.

The Surrey game has been moved back to a 7:45 p.m. faceoff at the South Surrey Arena.
