Fire on Mount Arrowsmith

BC Forest firefighters are currently battling a one hectare fire on the backside of Mount Arrowsmith near Lockwood Creek.

Coastal Fire Centre Information Officer Kimberly Kelly says the fire isn’t threatening any structures but it is listed as out of control.

“This fire is in a remote area. It’s not threatening any values at this time,” she said. “It’s estimated to be one hectare is size and it’s 11 kilometres southwest of Coombs.”

According to Kelly there are two initial attack crews, a unit crew, a response officer, and a Mosaic fire tender and personnel on site.

The fire was first spotted around 8 o’clock last night and crews started attacking it at 8 this morning.

The fire is believed to be human-caused.
