Qualicum Beach residents killed in Alberta highway crash

CREMONA, AB — Two people from Qualicum Beach have died following a motor vehicle collision in southern Alberta.

Didsbury RCMP responded around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 to an intersection along Highway 22, approximately 50 kilometres northwest of Calgary, after a Toyota Corolla collided with a pickup truck.

First responders discovered two people inside the Corolla but were unable to revive them, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.

They have been identified as a 76-year-old male and a 75-year-old female, both living in Qualicum Beach; however, no names were given.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Ford F-350, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP remained on the scene for several hours conducting an investigation.

The cause of the collision is not yet known.
