NANAIMO — The Clippers have a new member in their front office and a new schedule.

Tyler King has been appointed as the vice president of business operations after working on the business side with several junior franchises over the past twelve years.

King is looking forward to starting a new chapter in his career in Nanaimo.

“I’m grateful to Brad Kwong and the ownership group for affording me this opportunity to help fuel the continued growth of the Clipper organization with a view to creating an unmatched and modern brand.”

For the past four seasons King worked with the Okotoks Oilers in the AJHL and BCHL.

During his tenure the team set records for attendance and corporate partnerships.

Clippers managing partner Brad Kwong expects King’s experience will translate well to the Nanaimo market.

“When we spoke to him initially, it was clear he had the vision, the knowledge, and the experience to help grow the Clippers brand and business. We believe he’ll bring fresh, new ideas and the energy to invigorate the community to help grow our fan base.”

King has also worked as logistics manager for the 2021 World Junior Hockey Championships and had stints in the AJHL with the Brooks Bandits and Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

The Clippers office staff now includes director of business operations Robb Hunter and the newly added manager of ticket sales Rikki Thompson.

In addition the Clippers have released their schedule for the 2024-25 hockey season.

They will open on the road Friday, Sept. 20 in Alberni Valley.

The team’s home opener is Friday, Sept. 27 against the Chilliwack Chiefs.

This season the Clippers will play in the Coastal Divison West along with Victoria, Cowichan Valley, Alberni Valley and Powell River.

Nanaimo will not play any of the new Alberta franchises in 2024-25 with a plan to play those teams the following season.

The Clippers have 15 Friday night home games, nine on Saturdays and two Wednesday contests.
