‘Their timing is impeccable:’ Nanaimo’s Funkanometry into next round of Canada’s Got Talent

NANAIMO — There appears to be no stopping a local dance duo.

Jacksun Fryer and Carlow Rush, better known as the high-energy dance act Funkanometry, auditioned for Canada’s Got Talent during the Tuesday, April 2 episode which aired on CityTV.

The pair performed an intensely choreographed dance to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” and earned four ‘yes’ votes from the judging panel to easily advance to the next round.

“They’re good aren’t they?” judge Howie Mandell said to fellow judge Lilly Singh, after she remarked “oh I love it” at the start of the pair’s performance.

“Their timing is impeccable,” Singh added before the song kicked in.

The brief, one-minute performance closely mirrored the pair’s immensely popular, often viral, dances on social media filmed in public locations around Nanaimo and other communities in B.C.

Both Fryer and Rush made waves south of the border in 2022, appearing and advancing through several stages of America’s Got Talent.

Mandell was a judge on AGT when the duo performed as well.

Funkanometry continued to enjoy success after their exit from AGT in the fall, performing at a series of events in the United States including a NASCAR race.

They’re also mainstays on the mid-Island and regularly show up at large-scale events through the summer.

Canada’s Got Talent airs Tuesday nights on CityTV.
