Semi-truck snags central Nanaimo utility lines, causes significant power outage
NANAIMO —Nearly 2,000 BC Hydro customers were without power for a few hours due to significant outage.
It happened on Wednesday, April 3 just after 1 p.m. on Townsite Rd. near Bowen Rd. behind the Shell service station where a semi-trailer dragged down several overhead utility lines.
The incident caused nearly 2,000 BC Hydro customers in central Nanaimo to lose power for roughly three hours.
Nanaimo Fire Rescue Capt. Ian Stenberg said after completing a delivery a transport truck hooked some wires and pulled them down.
