Douglas requests Park parking
City Councillor John Douglas has asked that the Regional District talk to Mosaic Forest Management about turning their newly-logged area beside the cemetary into a parking lot and trailhead for people wanting to see the Hole-in-the-wall.
Douglas says their is a precedent for the request.
“Mosaic established a similar site in collaboration with the ACRD at the south end of Port Alberni, providing a safe vehicle access off of Franklin River Road by the intersection of Ship Creek and Anderson Road and providing a trailhead for the Alberni Inlet Trail,” he said. “The hole in the wall trailhead will complement that project.”
Douglas reminded council that the City owns the Hole-in-the-wall, which was constructed in 1912, but it is surrounded by Mosaic’s private managed forest lands.
