PARKSVILLE — A passenger died and two drivers were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 4 in Whiskey Creek.

Oceanside RCMP Sgt. Shane Worth said the crash occurred on Thursday, Feb. 15 at about 11:20 a.m. on the highway at Carson Rd. involving a red car and black SUV going in opposing directions.

He said a passenger in the car was pronounced dead on scene.

“Both drivers are in hospital so we are waiting to talk to them so we can learn from them what happened during this crash,” Worth told NanaimoNewsNOW.

Three people combined were in both vehicles, Worth said.

He said a collision analyst attended the scene, but said it’s too early to comment on what factors led to the crash.

“Bystanders stopped and they did speak with our investigators and provided statements of what they saw.”

Anybody witnesses to the crash or those with dash cam footage who haven’t already spoke to police are asked to contact Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111.
