NANAIMO — Numerous police and search and rescue resources are looking for a woman last seen early Thursday morning.

Nanaimo RCMP Res. Cst. Gary O’Brien said 48-year-old Nancy Gagne was last seen on Thursday, Feb. 1 at around 6:30 a.m.

He said the search effort is focused along the Millstone River between Bowen Rd. and the waterfront.

“We’re focussing our efforts on the banks of the Millstone, hoping that we’ll find her,” O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW.

Roughly a dozen police and Nanaimo SAR resources were deployed looking for Gagne as of mid day Friday, O’Brien noted.

“Of note, Gagne was last seen wearing multi-cloured pajamas. The picture is recent, she’s a caucasian woman, about 5’7″, 150 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes and she wears glasses.”

Police are extremely concerned for Gagne’s wellbeing, O’Brien said.

He said an RCMP helicopter could be deployed later on Friday to assist with the search effort.

Anybody with information on the whereabouts of Nancy Gagne are asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at: 250-754-2345.
