Even though they fell a bit short of their $200,000 goal, the local Salvation Army’s Major Michael Ramsay said he’s extremely thankful for the $184,000 they were able to raise in this year’s Christmas kettle campaign.
“It was a real blessing; we were able to provide hampers to more than 2400 people, and we were able to provide toys to hundreds of children who otherwise wouldn’t have had anything at all,” he said. “As well, we were able to provide a number of meals on Christmas Day at the Bread of Life, the shelters, and at the tiny homes and I’m just so thankful for how this community steps up and helped out and made an opportunity for so many people to have a wonderful Christmas, so thank you Port Alberni.”
