BC Ferries cancels Friday evening sailings due to high winds
NANAIMO — With a wind warning in place for much of eastern Vancouver Island and gusts up to 90 km/h expected near the coast, BC Ferries is cancelling most of their Friday, Nov. 10 evening sailings to and from Nanaimo.
Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall said the decision was made shortly before 1:00 p.m. Friday to cancel the evening sailings between the mainland and Vancouver Island out of an abundance of caution.
“We are cancelling service between Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay beginning at 8:05 p.m., as well as the Duke Point/Tsawwassen run, the 8:15 p.m. and the 10:45 p.m. sailings are cancelled. Anybody who was planning on travelling late this evening, I would suggest they do check out our website. We have a number of sailings cancelled due to these high winds.”
This means the 8:45 p.m. and 10:10 p.m. sailings from Nanaimo’s Departure Bay to Horseshoe Bay have been scrapped.
