Slafkovsky ‘is headed to a nice destination’ with Canadiens, says St. Louis
MONTREAL — Juraj Slafkovsky’s path to reaching his full potential in the NHL is a lot like using a navigation app, if you ask Martin St. Louis.
The Canadiens head coach compared Slafkovsky’s progress to using “Waze,” which gives drivers an estimated time of arrival that is subject to change if they hit traffic or miss an exit, but still gets them to their destination.
Slafkovsky, last year’s first-overall draft pick, has one goal and one assist through 11 games of his second season and often looks out of place on the ice. This after an underwhelming rookie campaign that was cut short by injury.
St. Louis doesn’t know when the 19-year-old forward will reach his potential, but feels certain that he’s heading to a good place.
