SEATTLE — The Clippers kept their high octane offense rolling but stepped up their defensive game in a 7-2 win over Prince George at the BCHL Showcase.

After giving up an early goal by the Spruce Kings Max Ranstrom, Nanaimo responded with markers from Matt Lahey and Willyam Gendron to take a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

The goal for Lahey was his first in the BCHL, in his 46th career game with the Clippers.

Nanaimo kept the pressure on in the second period getting a shorthanded goal from Noah Alvarez, an even strength marker by Connor DeTurris and a power play tally from Cole Lonsdale.

JR Perdion notched a power play goal for the Spruce Kings in the middle frame as well.

The Clippers grabbed the only goals of the final period with Gendron getting his second of the night and Connor Haynes cashing in on the man advantage.

Many of the players are on goal scoring hot streaks right now.

Gendron had no goals in his first six games, but has five goals in his last six. Haynes has four goals in his last three appearances, and Connor DeTurris has scored in both of his first two games with the team.

Tyler Hodges had a bounce back game in goal making 25 saves and taking the win over the Spruce Kings Marcus Ouellet.

Ouellet had to contend with 38 Nanaimo shots.

The Clippers won the special teams battle as well going 2/4 on the power play and 6/7 on the penalty kill.

Nanaimo leaves the showcase as the highest scoring team in the BCHL with 54 goals.

They’ll look to put back to back wins together for just the second this season when they host the Chilliwack Chiefs on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
