Bibby hat trick leads Clippers to 9-3 victory in Cowichan

DUNCAN — The Clippers offense shone in a 9-3 win over the Capitals.

Luke Bibby had three goals, Michael Murtagh and Brett Merner had a goal and two assists each in the victory.

Nanaimo led 2-0 after the first period and built up a 5-0 lead early in the middle frame.

The Capitals pushed back with two goals in the second period and closed the gap to 5-3 early in the third.

The Clippers ended the game on a four goal run including three on the power play to win by the six goal margin.

Nanaimo also killed of four of five Cowichan power plays while getting outshot 38-33.

Tyler Hodges was strong in net recording his third victory of the year over the Cowichan tandem of Emerik Despatie and Cody Butikis.

In total the Clippers had 14 different players hit the score sheet as they recorded their highest offensive output of the season.

Nanaimo has a 3-0 record against the Capitals as they turn their attention to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs who visit Frank Crane Arena on Friday Oct. 20.
