EARLIER, NANAIMO — Local Mounties are actively combing the community to try and find a woman recently missing.

Twenty-four-year-old Ashley Skeldoch was reported missing on Tuesday, Aug. 29 by her family in Nanaimo. Reserve Cst. Gary O’Brien said it’s unlike Skeldoch to go silent.

“Absolutely out of character for her to not respond to messages from her family. There’s also concern that she is in the company of a 28-year-old male, Garrett Sahm, who is currently wanted for a number of violent offences.”

Sahm has warrants out for his arrest on charges of sexual assault, forcible confinement and assault causing bodily harm, according to O’Brien.

He stressed the charges Sahm faces are not linked to Skeldoch in any way.

Skeldoch is described as 5’3 tall, 105 pounds with long brown hair and brown eyes. It’s believed she is in a relationship with Sahm who is 5’11, 140 pounds with a receding hair line and hazel eyes.

“If anyone sees them, they may be together, they may be not but please call our non-emergency line. There’s no reason to believe they’re not in Nanaimo but we’re certainly hitting all the hot spots and we’ve come up empty so far.”

The Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line is 250-754-2345.
