NANAIMO — He came, he sang and he is conquering.

Raymond Salgado, a singer from Lantzville, will move onto the Canada’s Got Talent final after audience votes pushed him through from a well-received semi-final appearance.

Salgado’s spot in the final was announced on CityTV’s “Breakfast Television” on Thursday morning. It means Salgado was among the top two vote getters of the seven acts up for vote.

He previously sang a cover of a Nina Simone-turn-Michael Bublé song, “Feeling Good”, during the Tuesday, May 9 semi-final. His audition piece, which aired in April, was to Bryan Adams’ song “Heaven”.

Both earned overwhelming praise from the judging panel with terms like “smashed it” and “the best we’ve heard” used to describe his performance.

The 24-year-old will sing on the Tuesday, May 16 episode from the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Canada’s Got Talent airs on CityTV.

He and the other finalists are competing for $150,000 and a spot in an America’s Got Talent show in Las Vegas.
