Clippers comeback falls short in 4-3 loss to Chiefs in Game 2

NANAIMO — A fast Chilliwack start put the Clippers in an early 3-0 hole in Game 2 of their series with the Chiefs.

Goals by Hunter McInnes, Brady Milburn on the power play and Dalton MacGillivray had the Chiefs in control of game in the first 13 minutes of play.

The Clippers stabilized themselves and got on the board in the first minute of the second period with a goal from Willyam Gendron.

Nico Grabas put Chilliwack back up by three scoring from the left wing late in middle frame.

Trailing 4-1 heading into the third the Clippers went to work and outshot the Chiefs 16-3.

Goals by Jeremie Payant and Ethan Mistry set up a frantic finish but the Chiefs held on to take a 2-0 series lead.

The final shots were 32-25 for the Clippers with Lucas Szyszka getting the win over Shane Shelest.

Nanaimo finished 0/6 on the power play and 2/3 on the penalty kill.

With key players Jake Hewitt and Charles Tardif already out of the line up the Clippers were unable to dress Skyler Cameron for personal reasons and they lost Tyler Wishart due to injury during Game 2.

Hewitt will return from a three game suspension in Game 3 which is scheduled for Tuesday April 18 in Chilliwack.
