EDMONTON — The Alberta government says the province’s top doctor has been replaced.

On her first day as premier last month, Danielle Smith announced that Dr. Deena Hinshaw would be removed from her position as the province’s chief medical officer of health.

Hinshaw has been replaced with Dr. Mark Joffe, a vice-president and medical director with Alberta Health Services.

A news release from Alberta Health says Joffe’s appointment is effective immediately and will continue until the health minister rescinds the appointment.
